We pledge our belief in the Equal Rights Amendment: the 28th Amendment to our Constitution. Sex and gender equality is not a privilege for some; it is a right for all.

The ERA matters — for me, for you, and for everyone in our full diversity. It matters for our daughters and our sons, for workers, for students, for parents, for every person deserves dignity, fairness, and freedom under the law

The Equal Rights Amendment is the 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution. Now let’s ensure it’s lived, enforced, and protected. This is our Era. It’s time to claim the 28th Amendment and make clear that sex and gender equality is not negotiable.

The ERA was ratified as the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution on January 27, 2020, when Virginia became the 38th and final state needed for ratification. President Biden also declared this on January 17, 2025. Gender equality has been enshrined in our nation’s foundational document with the ERA. The American Bar Association also recognizes the ERA as the 28th Amendment to the U.S Constitution and Constitutional Scholars also concur that our Constitution now demands that “equality of rights under the law cannot be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of sex.”

Anti-equality actors in government choose to ignore it—and the 78% of people in the U.S who support it. Their inaction fuels the ongoing attacks on our rights and keeps the weight of inequality in place.

Despite misinformation and attempts to discredit its validity, our movement of movements must remain steadfast: the ERA is law. The People have spoken and we have the support of the legal community.

Rights from battles won are slipping away. Voting rights are being restricted. Efforts to block and ban access to essential reproductive healthcare are on the table. Protections for domestic violence survivors are being rolled back. The ability to compete in sports, and the right to serve in many military positions — all under threat. The wage gap is closing, isn’t closing anymore, but indeed has widened a couple years in a row.

The war on equality is here—fight back.
